We didn’t have much money, but we had heart. We had recipes that told our story. So we started delivering meals door-to-door. From Massachusetts to New York, season after season, through the years until we built that space here in the Bronx, on Arthur Avenue—Yopcity where tradition and modernity meet in perfect harmony. Where West African flavors dance on every plate and laughter spills over from table to table. From the smiles of the staff who treat guests like old friends. It’s a place to celebrate birthdays, to reconnect with heritage, or to fall in love with a culture for the very first time.

Yop City is a tribute to Yopougon, one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. More than a name, it represents the memories, traditions, flavors, and sense of community that inspired us to bring a piece of home to New York City. Every meal we serve reflects the culture, hospitality, and spirit that made us fall in love with food in the first place.

Before opening our doors on Arthur Avenue, we shared our food through meal deliveries across Massachusetts and New York. What started as a passion for bringing authentic West African cooking to friends, families, and communities gradually grew into something bigger. Through hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to quality, Yop City became a place where people could gather around the flavors of home.
